MHT CET 2021: Registration, Eligibility, and Syllabus
About MHT CET
Every year, the Maharashtra government holds the MHT CET (Maharashtra Common Entrance Test), a state-wide entrance exam that lets you pursue undergraduate courses in Engineering, Pharmacy, Agriculture, and more.
As an online exam, the MHT CET comprises three papers. All the candidates appearing for this exam must attempt at least two papers.
Those candidates who wish to pursue a bachelor’s course in any of the disciplines mentioned above can start applying for the MHT CET 2021 exam by the first week of January 2021.
Eligibility Criteria
Only those candidates who meet the following criteria can apply for the MHT CET exam.
- Nationality
All the candidates who want to apply for the MHT CET exam must be Indian citizens.
- Educational Qualification
To be eligible to apply for the MHT CET Exam, you must have completed 12th grade by securing 50% marks. You must also have studied Science, mainly Physics and Mathematics.
If you have a diploma in Engineering and Technology, then you must have secured at least 50% of marks to be eligible to apply for the MHT CET exam.
Similarly, if you are looking to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Science, you must have secured at least 50% of marks and studied Science, especially Mathematics, in the 12th grade.
- Backward Classes
The cut-off for those from the backward classes or any reserved categories is 45%.
- Age Limit
There is no age bar to apply for the MHT CET exam.
MHT CET Syllabus and Exam Pattern
The MHT CET syllabus is designed to test your logical and abstract reasoning, quantitative aptitude, verbal ability, and reading comprehension skills.
You will get topics from Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, mostly what you have already studied in the 11th and 12th grades.
The first paper, Mathematics, has 50 questions, of which ten questions are from class 11, and the rest are from grade 12. Each question carries two marks. So, the entire paper has 100 marks.
Similarly, Paper-II comprises both Physics and Chemistry, each of which has 50 questions, ten from class 11, and the rest from grade 12. Each question carries a mark, making up for 100 marks.
Paper III is Biology and is optional. Only those applicants who have studied the subject in the 11th and 12th grades would be writing this exam. The paper consists of 100 questions, each of which carries a mark. There are 20 questions from class 11 and 80 questions from grade 12.
Note that each section is for 90 minutes. So, the exam lasts for 270 minutes and carries 300 marks.
The Application Process
To apply for the MHT CET 2021 exam, you must first register yourself on the official website. Once you have done your MHT CET registration, you can submit the application form. To submit your application:
- Log in to the official website.
- Select the course.
- Complete the registration process.
- Log in to the website and fill out the application form by providing all the relevant details.
- Submit all the documents, such as a scanned photograph and signature.
- Pay the required fee and submit your application.
Note that the fee for applying for the MHT CET exam is INR 800/- for General candidates, and it is INR 600/- for candidates from reserved categories.
